Privacy Policy

AniTend is operated by Cathcart Ventures Pty Ltd in Australia. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, where it may be processed and the choices available to you. It was last updated on 2 October 2026.

What this policy covers

This policy applies to anitend.com, AniTend’s mobile apps, early-launch program and the My Pets, Breeder and Rescue services. The public demonstration contains example data and is separate from private user accounts.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use AniTend, we may collect:

  • your name, email address, country, account details and communication preferences;
  • details about household members, carers, breeders, foster carers, applicants, buyers, adopters and veterinary contacts that you choose to enter;
  • animal identification, breed, sex, date of birth, microchip, parentage, care, feeding, weight, medication, vaccination, veterinary, behaviour and handover records;
  • photographs, feeding-label images, certificates, agreements and other documents you upload;
  • invoice, payment status, expense and subscription information. Stripe processes website subscription and electronic-signature payments. Where native store subscriptions are available, Google Play or Apple processes the store purchase. AniTend receives transaction references, verified subscription status and expiry, not complete card numbers;
  • agreement contents, signatory names and email addresses, signing status and completed documents. The signing provider also processes signature and audit information, such as timestamps and device or connection details; and
  • technical and usage information such as pages viewed, referral source, approximate region, device and browser type, and diagnostic or error information.

Please only enter another person’s information when you are authorised to do so and the information is relevant to the animal’s care, placement or handover.

How we collect information

We collect information directly from you when you register, create or use an account, complete a form, upload a file, contact us or join the early launch. We may also receive information from another authorised AniTend user who invites you to an account or records your details for a legitimate care, breeding, rescue, placement or handover purpose. Limited technical information is collected automatically when the website or service is used.

How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • create and secure accounts, confirm identity and provide the AniTend service;
  • maintain animal records, reminders, reports, documents and controlled sharing between authorised users;
  • manage applicants, allocation, contracts, invoices, payments and animal handovers;
  • operate the early-launch program and send requested service or product communications;
  • provide support, investigate faults, prevent misuse and improve reliability and usability;
  • meet legal, accounting, security and regulatory obligations; and
  • use information for another purpose you have authorised or that is permitted by law.

AniTend does not sell personal information. My Pets Free supports advertising when enabled and available. We request non-personalised ads; Google may still use cookies for frequency capping, fraud prevention and aggregated reporting. My Pets Plus does not display ads.

Advertising and cookies

The website uses Google AdSense and the native apps use Google AdMob when advertising is enabled. Google and other advertising vendors may use cookies or similar technologies when displaying ads in My Pets Free. We request non-personalised ads, which do not use a visitor’s browsing history to select the ad, but cookies may still be used for frequency capping and aggregate reporting. You can review Google’s advertising choices and opt out of personalised advertising in Google My Ad Centre. Ads are not shown in My Pets Plus, paid Breeder or Rescue workspaces, or the public demo. Optional rewarded features are offered only when an ad is available. The mobile advertising SDK may process device identifiers, approximate location, ad interactions and diagnostic information to deliver ads, limit frequency and prevent fraud. Reward requests associate an AniTend account identifier and reward placement with the completed ad; animal names, care notes and uploaded photographs are not sent by AniTend in those requests. Available advertising privacy controls are provided in app settings. Essential browser storage and secure device storage are also used for sign-in, preferences and service operation. You can manage browser storage and device notification permissions, although blocking essential storage may stop parts of the service working.

Mobile permissions and notifications

The mobile apps ask for permission when a feature needs access to notifications, the camera or selected photos. Camera and photo access is used to attach the images you choose to animal records. When notifications are enabled, AniTend stores a device notification token and associates it with your user and authorised workspaces. Google Firebase Cloud Messaging or Apple Push Notification service processes the token and the reminder message needed for delivery. You can disable notifications in AniTend or your phone settings. Reminder content may appear on your lock screen depending on your device settings. Signing out disables the device’s AniTend notification registrations before clearing the local session.

AI-assisted feeding-label reading

If you use the feeding-label photo reader, the image and extraction instructions are sent securely through Vercel AI Gateway to the configured AI provider so visible label text can be extracted into draft fields. The current integration uses an OpenAI model. Photograph only the label and avoid including people or unrelated private information. The result may be incomplete or wrong and must be checked by the user before it is used. AniTend’s AI does not diagnose an animal, prescribe treatment or replace the manufacturer’s directions or veterinary advice.

AniTend AI Help

When a signed-in user asks AniTend AI Help a question in My Pets, Breeder or Rescue, AniTend sends the question, relevant plan or role context and approved product manual content to OpenAI to prepare guidance about using the software. Pet records and medical details are not included in that request by AniTend, and users are instructed not to enter private information or an animal’s medical details. AniTend requests that responses are not stored through the provider’s response-storage feature and keeps a daily usage count rather than saving question-and-answer history in the animal record. This setting is not a promise of zero provider retention: the provider’s security and legal handling rules may still apply. Anything you type in the question is sent with it. The public demo searches the Help Manual locally and does not use signed-in AI Help.

Who we share information with

We disclose information only where needed to operate AniTend, where you direct us to share it, or where disclosure is required or permitted by law. Current service providers include Google for My Pets Free advertising; Supabase for account authentication, database and private file storage; Vercel for website hosting, application processing, analytics and feeding-label AI routing; OpenAI for signed-in product Help answers and feeding-label extraction; Resend for service and early-launch email; Sentry for privacy-limited error monitoring and diagnostics; and Cloudflare for private disaster-recovery copies of uploaded photos and documents. Stripe provides website payment processing and subscription billing. Google Play and Apple process native store purchases and verified subscription information when those purchases are available. Google Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service deliver enabled mobile reminders. SignWell receives the document and signatory details needed to request signatures and returns signing status, completed documents and audit records. Providers process information for their services under their own applicable terms and privacy practices.

Users control invitations and account roles. A breeder, rescue, owner or administrator may give another person access to information within the relevant AniTend account. An organisation’s assigned foster carers receive access for their current animal assignments rather than its private adoption and financial records. Reports, questionnaires, signing requests and handover invitations are shared when an authorised user requests them. A recipient can retain information they receive or download; revoking access does not recall those copies. An accepted handover gives the recipient the prepared individual-animal record, not access to the source workspace.

Overseas processing

AniTend’s primary Supabase project is hosted in Australia. Independent recovery copies are stored in a private Cloudflare R2 bucket configured with an Oceania location hint. A location hint does not guarantee that information remains in Australia. Cloudflare and other providers or their subprocessors may process or support information outside Australia, including in the United States, Singapore, the United Kingdom, European Union member states, Japan and Canada. Privacy and security protections can differ between countries. We select established providers, restrict access and limit the information made available to them to what is needed for the service.

How we protect information

AniTend uses HTTPS, managed authentication, account-based access, role permissions, database row-level security and private file-storage rules. These controls are designed so signed-in users can only reach the AniTend accounts and records they are authorised to use. Administrative access and service credentials are restricted.

Uploaded photos and documents are copied nightly to a separate private recovery bucket. Recovery copies are encrypted in transit and at rest, access is restricted, and a retention lock helps protect recent backups from premature modification or deletion.

No online service can promise absolute security. Users must protect their password, keep account details current and promptly tell us about suspected unauthorised access. If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will investigate, contain it and notify affected people and regulators where required by law.

Retention and deletion

We keep personal information while an account is active and for as long as reasonably needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, maintain security and meet legal, tax or accounting obligations. Subscription cancellation and account deletion are separate actions. Use the available account controls or contact us to request deletion; we may need to confirm your authority and address records shared with other people. Early-launch information is kept until it is no longer needed for the launch program or you ask us to delete it. When information is no longer required, we will delete or de-identify it where reasonably practicable, subject to lawful retention and backup requirements.

If information is deleted from the live service, a recovery copy may remain in protected backups for up to 35 days. Backups are not used for ordinary service delivery and are accessed only for security, continuity, recovery or legal purposes. They are automatically deleted at the end of the configured retention period unless longer retention is required by law.

Your choices and rights

You may ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you, change communication preferences, withdraw consent where processing relies on consent, or request deletion of your account or information. Some records may need to be retained where the law requires it or where deletion would affect another authorised user’s legitimate records.

To make a request, contact the Privacy Officer at hello@anitend.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. You can browse the public website without an account; an email address and appropriate account details are needed for sign-in, invitations and personalised service. If you choose not to provide required information, we may be unable to provide that feature. Optional marketing choices can be withdrawn using the unsubscribe option in the message or by contacting us; essential account and billing notices may still be sent.

Children

AniTend accounts are intended to be managed by adults. We do not knowingly invite children to create accounts or provide personal information. A parent, guardian or authorised adult should manage any information about a child that is genuinely needed for shared household animal care.

Questions and complaints

Send privacy questions or complaints to the Privacy Officer at hello@anitend.com. Please explain the issue and include enough information for us to investigate it. We will acknowledge the complaint and aim to respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may be able to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner or the privacy regulator in your country.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as AniTend’s products, providers and legal obligations change. The current version and its update date will remain available on this page. Material changes affecting existing users will be communicated through the service or by email where appropriate.
